Day 3 - Had breakfast at Panos again and then took the metro to see the Atomium. It was interesting for a science person. We didn't go in because we're in a rush so we hurry back to the hotel, and then left Brussel for Antwerpen on a 45 min train ride. Upon reaching, we were greeted by the beauty of the train station. Photos will be up when I get back. We walked for a minute or so and reached our hotel - Leonardo's. And the funny thing is there's a mini-mart called 1 minute about a minute away from our hotel. So Antwerpen is supposedly the land of diamonds. We literally stay on diamond street. Shops selling diamond jewellery line the whole street. We walked to the Grand Place for lunch. I swear that walk was the longest half an hour ever. We were all cold and hungry and clueless because Grand Place was nowhere in sight and the only restaurant we walked past was McDonald's. Like after a gazillion years, we reached the place and had lunch at a waffle restaurant. That was the best waffle I ever had. It was so crispy unlike what we have in Singapore. So after the meal, we visited the church and then walked over to the castle by the lake. As it was a long and tiring day, we returned to the hotel early and rest for a while before coming out for Lebanese food just behind the hotel. Tastes like satay, it was nothing much.
Day 4 - Breakfast at Panos again, and I'm really real sick of this. It's not easy finding food near our area because there are only bars and they don't open till late in the day. We went to Diamond Land and had a look at part of the process of creating the diamond that we see today. Afterwards, we went to the port of Antwerp museum MAS where they showcase fine arts. There are 10 floors and each floor showcase different themes. On the top floor, we can have the view of the whole city. It was fascinating but the weather was simply too cold and the wind was unforgiving. We came down in a while. Went for lunch at an Italian restaurant, Da Giovanni, at the Grand Place while some visited the Prints museum. Went shopping for a while before heading back to the hotel early where we had instant noodle for dinner.
Day 5 - Checked out of the hotel early to catch the 957 a.m. train to Rotterdam. Upon arriving, we had to walk for around 15 minutes along the little pond in the middle of the road, which was inhabited by geese, ducks and swans, to reach our hotel. Checked in and rest for a bit before heading out to the market place by metro. Had lunch at McDonald's and then we visited the cube houses. They were tilted at odd angles and bright in color. Surprisingly people do live in them. We had a tour around one of the cube houses and then walked a little to the swamp (bridge) before visiting the tower Eurosccoop ( one of the tallest building in Europe). Went up the Euroscoop where we all sat in this circular part of the building and gets elevated higher up the tower. While we moving up, we would rotate so that we can have a view of the whole city of Rotterdam. The sky is darkened and the buildings glowed like fireflies below us. The view was mesmerizing. We would stay up there forever. Afterwards, we had dinner at a garlic restaurant where they serve dishes cooked with garlic. Even soup, and ice cream. Had tomato soup and it was legit good. Yeah and definitely our breath stinks after the meal. I think that's why they gave us mints after we paid our bill.
