Had breakfast in our hotel today. It was quite a spread, offering different choices of bread, ham, egg and even yogurt. Just standard breakfast I suppose. But they have this little boxes of chocolate toppings like chocolate rice for us to sprinkle on top of our bread. My mum and I were hooked on them. After breakfast, we walked over to the train station and took the metro to some station to buy tickets to Den Haag because our 2 days pass for tram, bus and metro doesn't include the E line, where Den Haag Centraal is the terminal. However we found ourselves stranded at some quiet town with a few black cats loitering around. The platform was open air and the temperature is -1 degrees. Furthermore, we couldn't buy the tickets from the ticket machine for god knows what reason. So it's either taking the train straight to the terminal and risk getting fined or we go back to the central to buy tickets. Being rational, we took the metro back (if it were me I would go all the way to the terminal) and bought tickets for the train ride to Den Haag. Upon reaching Den Haag, we walked for quite a distance before we reach the town square where the International Court of Justice (ICJ) stood. Had a quick lunch at McDonald's before walking another 900 meters to the museum for the Escher Forever! exhibition. It features works by M.C. Escher, which explore the ideas of infinity and eternity and he plays around. The main features of his works are tessellations and optical illusions. It was pretty interesting for everyone and on the top floor, we get to interact with his works physically through technology and other things physical to understand his works. The exhibition also tells of the story behind the museum, which was originally the palace-turn-winter palace. Went shopping after the museum and took the train back to central, where we took the tram 25 to have dinner at Chin Dim Sum Restaurant in Chinatown. And that's all for today.
